It has developed VenCobb, a completely indigenous broiler breed ideally suited to Indian agro-climatic and managemental conditions. Today, Venco enjoys more than 60% share of the Indian broiler market and its products are exported to Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Iran, Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries. Venkateshwara Hatcheries Limited: flagship company of the VH Group established in 1971 with its main business being day-old chicks (layer/broiler), vaccine manufacture, feed manufacture and R&D on poultry disease. It pioneered the concept of parent franchisee operations, popularised cage farming, provided poultry feeds. and gave the nation an industry with a potential to create new jobs, enhance rural development and enrich the diet of the people. Venkys (India) Limited: established in 1976 to produce day-old broiler and layer chicks. It is the first Indian company to be listed on the stock exchanges of India. Its current portfolio has expanded to include animal health products, specific pathogen free eggs, pellet feed, processed chicken, solvent oil extraction and nutritional health products. Venkateshwara Research and Breeding Farms Limited: a joint venture with ISA Babcock Breeders Inc. , USA which was established in 1980 to undertake pure-line layer breeding program for egg-type chicken. It has the most modern facilities for generic research in India with state-of-the-art laboratories used to identify the most productive birds with best livability as pedigree candidates. Today, it is the market leader in the Indian layer industry with more than 80% market share.
